Beloit College Class of 2010

August 2nd, 2006

Hey everybody!  So I've been a member of this community for a few months, but never got around to introducing myself like a lot of you did.  And, now that we have just over two weeks before we'll be LIVING together, I figure I should:

I'm Laura, I'm from NYC, I've just arrived home from a month of travel that was the best experience of my life.  I like riding bikes and going for walks -though it's been above 100 degrees here the past few days- and having good conversations and reading and listening to music.  And sometimes trying to write, and sometimes trying to play musical instruments.

I'm a little nervous about leaving everything I know but as it gets closer to August 19th I find myself really excited about Beloit.  I can't really remember what I requested for my FYI, but I'd like to take classes in Spanish, calculus, and probably English.  I haven't received my roommate information yet but I called today and was told I'm living in the Brannon apartments (Does anyone know if they're the same as Brannon Hall?) with 3 other people.  So that's exciting.

Anyway, I can't wait to meet everybody.  Have great rest-of-summers!

i got my housing (finally)
i got a triple in 810 college street.
does anyone know anything about 810 college street, i cant even visualize where it is on campus. is it mostly freshman or what?
also, is there a bunk bed in a triple? for some reason i have a real issue with sleeping on a top bunk. i just feel strange about it.
any insights ya'll have would be appreciated, im feeling very nervous right now.
thanks, marta

I have a question hopefully someone can help me with: Is it worth it to rent or bring a bike to Beloit? Do people use them often, or wish they had one? Thanks.

I got my email address!!!!! (and a facebook, of course!) (find me under bornstei@stu.beloit.edu)

I'm still waiting on my dorm/roommate info... did anyone get their assignment yet?

Has anyone else not started getting stuff for college whatsoever? I think I'm ordering a computer next week. And we just got tickets to fly out, but nothing other than that. I don't even know where to begin.

I'm so excited though!

I was really excited too, i_fauxpas! Who else is going to get a facebook minutes after they finally send us our emails? I'm psyched.

(I'm just hoping that I'll get a chance to access the internet to do so! I leave at four tomorrow to visit relatives and might not get the chance for two weeks!) I'm not even usually much of an internet person- I don't have a myspace or anything. I just can't wait to start "meeting" everyone; there's something so much more concrete about being able to see peoples' faces.

Wouldn't it be cool if they told us where we'd be living next week as well? Which dorm did you all sign up for as your first choice?

Thank you for filling out your information. We will be creating your account soon. You should expect to hear from Admissions by mail in about a week with your username, email address and password. If you have any questions, email Admissions at admiss@beloit.edu

Did this get anyone else really excited? Lol.

p.s. i'm still down for a new york meetup if anyone is... get in touch!

World Cup, anyone?

Who are you rooting for and why? (If it's not America & because I live here.)

I'm watching the US/Italy game (tivo'd) and I have to admit it's the first one I've watched more than a couple of minutes ago. It's a fantastic game! Don't want to spoil it in case you still want to watch it... but everyone probably knows who won but me! Oh well, I'll know in thirty minutes too.

I love soccer but haven't played seriously in two years... anyone know anything about club/intramural soccer at Beloit, or is also interested in playing?

Two months and two days until college!

boston etc.

dr. pepper
so kimberly (see below) inspired me so i was wondering who on here's from around boston and we should all definitely meet up sometime we go out to wisconsin and chill in boston sometime this summer. any takers? what is there not to do in boston anyways? And i haven't had lunch yet today so i'm thinking about food and all the good places to eat in boston.

i know there are at least maybe three people in this community from the boston area, maybe i'll be pleasantly surprised and find out there are eighty five.

you know you want to.

New Yorkers?

It seems like this community needed a new post =)

How's everyone doing? Graduation and summer plans? We get out late, my graduation isn't until the end of June, but the last day of classes is the 13th (fourteen days to go!)

Laura (radbouncingsoul) and I were going to plan a day for New York City people (and others who can get here) to meet sometime in the next couple of months. I know there are at least two people who live in the city... anyone else interested? If so, email me at kballinger@gmail.com. I posted this on the messageboard on the Beloit website and no one responded, so I hope there are some takers here. (Although I realize the 21 members in this community probably aren't that close at all to New York...ah well.) I tried!
